Back in Lesotho!

The Bakers have officially been back in Lesotho for about two weeks now. We are really enjoying our new home, and since the LXP Lesotho base is still under construction, we are able to host our weekly staff meetings here. Speaking of the LXP Lesotho base, the roof is going up right this minute!

Band Outreach
Two weeks ago as a family, we traveled down to Margate (a beautiful coastal suburb of Durban, South Africa) for a band outreach with the Barn “Engulfed” Band. This is Piet’s second year attending the outreach in Margate. As a team, we went into three high schools, two churches, and a rehabilitation center to bless the students and congregations with the gift of music and worship. The band also had the opportunity to give two separate worship training seminars at both the church fraternal as well as the rehab center. Piet felt very refreshed at the end of the week as he was a blessed in order to be a blessing as music is something he is deeply passionate about.
When we returned from Durban, we jumped right back into our daily routine here in LXP Lesotho. This past week was especially eventful.
We were blessed to have a family from Canada, the Ninabers, join a few days last week
Ministering in one of the schools
for ministry in the village and in the schools. They specialize in “drimes” (dramas put to music) and were able to perform their drimes in three schools, at our Saturday youth program, as well as at our local church here in Lesotho. At the schools, there were opportunities for students to give their hearts and lives to the Lord. Many made this commitment. They are truly a wonderful and loving family and we were very blessed by their presence here in Lesotho!

We were privileged to be part of an LXP Lesotho first last week: the first annual women’s retreat. Elizabeth had the dream several years ago to host a retreat for the women of the community to love, encourage, and empower them as women. Many women stay at home with the children and take care of the home while their husbands, fathers, brothers, etc are at work. They work very hard and are sometimes forgotten about. They rarely have opportunities to do anything besides taking care of their household and possibly visiting neighbors. The retreat took place over three days and the theme was “Special Ladies”. There were three
different speakers and they even did a craft! The women of the community were blessed and refreshed! On the final day, they were put into their neighborhood regions, they chose a leader, and they decided to continue meeting together weekly.

As I mentioned before, I (Leah) am staying home with Harmony and am loving every minute of it! I am privileged to pop in for ministry happenings every now and again as well as attend the weekly staff meeting. In the coming month or so, I will be starting to train the pre-school teachers at the community pre-school in how to do lesson planning and how to make the most out of their time with the kids.

Thank you for your prayers, love, and support.
